"Studying in France gave me a great variety of classes and opportunities I wouldn’t have had at home, and I still stayed on track with my computer science major. I had so many unique experiences in France, and I didn’t have to sacrifice anything academically… I didn’t even have to give up surfing on the weekends!"

How to I get credit for EAP coursework?

All EAP course titles, units, and grades taken abroad will automatically transfer to your UCSB transcript.

How do I get my courses to count toward my Major/Minor/GE

  1. You are required to discuss with your academic advisor in your major and minor all courses and requirements you hope to fulfill while abroad. If you plan on completing GE requirements, they must be approved by a college advisor (either Letters and Science, School of Engineering or Creative Studies).
  2. Refer to Coursefinder (http://eap.ucop.edu/coursefinder/) for brief descriptions of courses that past EAP students have taken at your host university. Note that this is not a complete list of courses that may be available abroad. If you wish to fulfill a required course, compare the Coursefinder description with the course in the UCSB catalog (http://www.catalog.ucsb.edu/), then check with your major or minor academic advisor.
  3. When registering for courses abroad, keep in contact with your major and/or college advisor by email.  They can give advice on which courses you should enroll in.
  4. You must register with both the host university AND with EAP using the Registration Study List.
  5. SAVE everything (syllabi,  tests, papers, etc). It is easier for academic advisors to make decisions if they can see exactly what was taught in the course.
  6. When you return and your grades have been received from abroad, fill out the EAP petition (http://eap.ucop.edu/common/forms/gen_petition.dot) and turn it into your department/college.
