Yonsei is one of the most selective of the Korean Universities. It enrolls about 35,000 undergraduate and graduate students in a broad range of academic departments, a comprehensive graduate program, and professional schools.

International Summer School, Yonsei University 

9 to 13.5 UC quarter units required (2-3 courses) If you receive financial aid, you may be required to take 13.5 UC quarter units as a
requirement for UC summer funding; see your campus Financial Aid Office for details. Summer 2014 courses now available online.

Subjects offered include humanities, social sciences, management and economics, science, East Asian and Korean studies. 
Korean language study is NOT required. Select from 80-100 courses are offered each summer.  All courses are taught in English by UC,
international and local faculty.

       3 UCSB professors will teach at Yonsei this summer! 
         Mattanjah de Vrieswill teach General Chemistry and Introduction to Environmental Studies.
         Suk-Young Kim will teach Contemporary Korean Culture.
         Javier Birchenalwill teach Intermediate Macroeconomics.

Fall, Spring, Year

Yonsei University

Minimum 21 UC quarter units per semester required; usually four or five courses.

Courses taught in English are offered in many fields, including business, economics, history, communications, art history, literature, philosophy,
political science, and sociology. Particularly strong courses are available in Asian Studies, Korean Studies, and Korean language & literature.
Korean language course is required each term unless you are fluent in Korean.  Check out the MyEAP course catalog to view the courses
students have taken in the past.


Internships for academic credit may be possible and include positions in a gaming company, broadcasting/entertainment, human resources,
and IT/marketing.  Most organizations require English and Korean fluency.  Students are responsible for securing their own internships.
This process differs for summer and fall/spring/year programs.  If interested, please inquire about this.


The oldest private university and one of the most internationalized in Korea, Yonsei Univeristy is located in western Seoul on the former site of 
the Yi Dynasty royal palace. The main quad area resembles an ivy league university with gothic stone buildings, although this traditional core
is being infused with new modern architecture as the university develops.
