How to Apply for a U.S. Passport

All UCEAP participants need a passport in order to travel internationally. Some programs require a valid passport at the time of application. Check your UCEAP program-specific application instructions to determine by when you must have a valid passport.

U.S. Citizens

If you already have a passport, check the expiration date now. It must be valid for 6 months after your UCEAP program ends, unless otherwise stated on your UCEAP application instructions. Here's how to apply for a new passport or a renewal:

Download and complete a passport application and gather the required supporting materials. Visit the U.S. Department of State website for more details.
Turn in your passport application at the UCSB Recreation Customer Service Center (by appointment only) or at another passport acceptance facility.

Current Expected Processing Times:

Routine Service: 6-8 weeks
Expedited Service (additional fee required): 2-3 weeks

Non-U.S. Citizens

Contact your home country’s nearest consulate for your passport application procedure. Contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services with any questions regarding your return to the U.S.
