How to Apply for a U.S. Passport
All UCEAP participants need a passport in order to travel internationally. Some programs require a valid passport at the time of application. Check your UCEAP program-specific application instructions to determine by when you must have a valid passport.
U.S. Citizens
If you already have a passport, check the expiration date now. It must be valid for 6 months after your UCEAP program ends, unless otherwise stated on your UCEAP application instructions. Here's how to apply for a new passport or a renewal:
- Download and complete a passport application and gather the required supporting materials. Visit the U.S. Department of State website for more details.
- Turn in your passport application at the UCSB Recreation Customer Service Center (by appointment only) or at another passport acceptance facility.
Current Expected Processing Times:
- Routine Service: 4-6 weeks
- Expedited Service (additional fee required): 2-3 weeks
